Rhinoplasty
Surgery
Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping,"nose job")
is the surgical procedure used to “sculpt” or shape
the nose to achieve a desired result. A nose that is disproportionate,
or out of harmony with the face, will draw attention to the nose.
The goal of rhinoplasty is to achieve balance and harmony with the
face and to draw attention toward the beauty of the eyes.
Every nose and every face is unique. Skin type, age,
ethnic background, shape, and size of the nose are all important
individual characteristics in determining the type of nasal surgery
needed to improve the nose aesthetically. Evaluation of one’s
overall facial features and proportions are very important in nasal
surgery. Dr. Albert Fox provides a thorough and detailed analysis
of these features to determine the most appropriate surgery needed
to achieve a desired result.
A natural appearing nose, that is balanced and in
harmony with the face is of utmost importance to Dr. Albert Fox.
Successful facial plastic surgery is based on a good relationship

a rhinoplasty must be performed without compromising its function.
Dr. Albert Fox’s training as both a Facial Plastic Surgeon
and an Otolaryngologist provide his patients with the highest expertise
in both the aesthetic appearance and function of the nose.
How is rhinoplasty performed?
Rhinoplasty can be performed through small incisions
inside of the nose (a closed or endonasal approach) or through a
small incision along the base or columella of the nose (open approach).
The choice of approach depends in part on the size and shape of
the nose and the desired goals of the surgery.
Recovery
Recovery from rhinoplasty surgery is typically 7
to 10 days. The surgery is performed on an outpatient basis.
Types of Rhinoplasty Surgery
Primary Rhinoplasty is nasal reshaping performed for
the first time. This is the time to obtain the most optimal result
with appearance and function. A comprehensive analysis of the nasal
structures, including the effects of possible deviated septum, turbinate
size and shape as well as allergy will be reviewed. Computer imaging
and simulated before and after results are provided during a confidential
consultation with Dr. Albert Fox.
Revision Rhinoplasty is nasal reshaping performed
on the nose that has undergone surgery in the past. There are many
reasons for a revision rhinoplasty. The surgery is commonly performed
to further improve the appearance or function of the nose. The high
level of training in the fields of Facial Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology
allow Dr. Albert Fox to provide the highest level of expertise,
dedication and care required to perform revision rhinoplasty procedure.
Functional Rhinoplasty
The goal of functional rhinoplasty is to improve
the function of the nose. Birth defects, trauma, nasal fracture,
septal deviation and turbinate enlargement can all compromise the
ability of the nose to provide unobstructed airflow. Correction
of a deviated or crooked septum, improved support for the nasal
cartilage or both can help improve nasal breathing. This can lead
to better exercise tolerance and endurance, decreased snoring, and
overall better nasal health.
