Restylane
Restylane is FDA approved as a dermal filler treatment.
This dermal filler is a natural product that can be used to smooth
out wrinkles and folds. Restylane can also be used for lip enhancement
and lip augmentation.
What is Restylane?
Restylane is a crystal-clear gel that is made of
hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a molecule that occurs naturally
in our skin. As we age, we lose hyaluronic acid, leading to wrinkles
and creases. Restylane helps restore skin volume that is lost during
the aging process. The ability of hyaluronic acid to bind and retain
water, allows it to effectively treat wrinkles and folds. Unlike
other fillers (i.e. Collagen), Restylane does not require allergy
testing.
How long does Restylane last?
Because of the unique cross-linking of the hyaluronic
acid molecules in Restylane, the treatment lasts, on average, for
6 months. The duration in part depends on each individual’s
skin characteristics as well as the region treated.
Juvederm
Juvederm is a new generation of non-animal based hyaluronic
acid dermal filler. Juvederm is unique in that it has the highest
concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid of any available hyaluronic
acid dermal filler. The gel consistency is very smooth, providing
a natural look and feel. Juverderm is available in two formulations:
Juvederm Ultra for contouring and volumizing facial wrinkles and
folds and Juvederm Ultra Plus for correcting deeper folds and wrinkles.
Like Restylane, Juvederm does not require allergy
testing. Duration of the treatment is also approximately 6 months.
Where are Restylane, Juvederm and Radiesse treatments performed?
These treatments are performed in the office setting
and generally take 30 minutes. The results are immediate. Dr. Fox
has offices in Dartmouth and Wareham.
